First Wedding Anniversary Gift Ideas by Andrea R. Britt
You're in love with your spouse as much as ever. The big day's coming up your first wedding anniversary. What can you give her to make her feel special? How can you let him know you're happy you married him?
For wedding anniversaries, there are traditional gifts and modern gifts. You can go with tradition but twist it up to make it your own. Paper is the traditional gift for first wedding anniversaries. For your first wedding anniversary, here are paper gift ideas.
- Tickets - Take your wife to a romantic movie. Surprise your husband with front row tickets to his favorite game (basketball, football, baseball, hockey, etc.). Place the tickets where your spouse will easily spot them inside the pocket of his favorite shirt or pants, on the fridge, on his bedside table, in her wallet.
- Have a picnic complete with paper plates and paper cups, or pack food in colorful take out boxes.
- Create a "The Year that Was..." newsletter or magazine just for you and your spouse's reading pleasure. Write about the highlights of your first year of marriage. Make an article out of your petty and not-so-petty arguments and how you made up. Feature the places the two of you have visited.
- Make the night of your first wedding anniversary a blend of romance and nostalgia sit by the fire or get cozy on the sofa and spend the evening flipping through your wedding photos, which you've lovingly bound in a scrapbook.
- Give your spouse a gift certificate courtesy of his or her favorite shop.
- If your spouse has a favorite author, do some digging around in bookstores or eBay for a first edition of one of that author's works.
- Get your spouse a 1-year subscription to his or her favorite magazine.
- Have a picture of you together blown up and framed.
- Start a "Couple's Journal". You and your spouse can write each other love messages every day. Put the journal near your bed or any other place in the house. That way, the two of you can add to the journal whenever the mood strikes you.
